Soekarseno Foundation was founded in 2002 because from concern with the education standards in the Ciawi region. After a visit to their neighbors region the Soekarseno sisters were extremely appalled by the village conditions as compared to their nearby residence in the Rancamaya Estate and subsequently decided it was their duty to help change in the region. They began by restoring the depilated school buildings in 2003.
From 2003 the foundation financially supported the renovation of nine elementary school buildings and one junior high school, and the recruitment of thirty eight teachers. And in 2007 it built from scratch the regions best junior high school. Pangerasan Junior High School was established on July 7th, 2007 and then was further renovated on the 8th of August, 2008. This school has enabled the opportunity for children and teenagers in the region to continue an education previously thought unimaginable, and has also filled the founders with pride.
